Is there a price we pay for our resilience-26/11
Mumbai shocked everyone, however, the speed at which Mumbai tried to get back to normal was equally shocking for me !! Yes….life has to get back to normal..There is a sense of anger, outrage but WHERE IS IT expressed??? I wish the city ….the country had stopped at least for a day and EXPRESS what they felt. The outrage has almost dies down. It is important to vent out your feelings towards achieving some result in the end which benefits everyone. I wish we all understood that there is individual as well as collective responsibility involved here. I wish we had not tried to bounce back so soon and feel a sense of pride over it.
The question everyone is asking is ‘what can we do???’
My answer is , ‘ A lot more than we are doing now’. There is no way results will not come if all of us get together to chart out something for ourselves and others who are not in a position to help themselves. How can we take individual responsibility, What if I was there in one of the locations where terrorists attacked… ’!! Have we stopped to check the answers that we may have …maybe you have a solution that helps in this situation…. It is a matter of life, living, futures, peace and it affects all of us…For once we should have stopped and done something about what we felt….even if it meant not feeling a sense of pride in being resilient…To feel and then to ignore the feelings does not serve us personally or collectively in any way. Feelings come to guide us and emotions serve as the leverage to ACTION…
Let not life get back to normal again, and the normalcy that we will now have to live with is NEW, DIFFERENT and GIVES US A SENSE OF CONTROL rather than a sense of HELPLESSNESS. We are not helpless…all of us are high potential individuals , all of us can THINK, all of can DO and all of us INTEND it as well. Let us show we can fight …not necessarily the terrorists but our own pride in being resilient. We do not have to prove our resilience, for we know we have the capacity to bounce back, human beings have that capacity. Today , the need of the hour is to not to take pride in resilience but be resilient and take further action , Listen to what our emotions tell us and take action based on that, hold ourselves in charge of our own lives and define what we are capable of as individuals and collectively. It is important not let people feel that they could disturb our lives….that is one context. But it is also necessary for people to know…this will not work anymore and is not acceptable , our actions do not show that….somehow, the words resilience and helplessness do not go together..The fact that we are resilient proves we are not helpless. Please….let us get out and have a say in THINGS that matter to us and our families.
Remember….WHEN WE ASK FOR LESS, LESS IS WHAT WE GET…WHEN WE ACCEPT LESS, LESS IS WHAT WE LIVE WITH.
